Make your emails readable

Long lines of text are difficult to read. Especially if you have lines of text extending all the way across the width of your newsletter.

Studies have proven that the maximum length of a line of text should be about 50 to 55 characters at the most. Shorter lines are okay, but lines longer than 55 characters will damage your readability.

That’s why many newsletters – including our tipmail – use a fixed width table to keep control over the content. Keep the rule in mind and do your readers a big favour…

PS : EmailGarage will be present at the Webwinkel Vakdagen in Utrecht. Come and meet us at booth 069!

This is a very good tip. Do you know if the study included recommended number of lines of copy to include in an email?
